The Moonee Valley Racecourse has an exciting history that spans back to 1883 when prominent entrepreneur William Samuel Cox purchased a farm belonging to John F Feehan to establish a racetrack along the banks of the Moonee Ponds Creek.

Through public support and the racing industry, ‘Sam’ Cox ensured that racing at Moonee Valley would offer the best in public facilities and prize money – establishing a solid foundation for future prosperity.

As a significant contributor to Victoria’s racing heritage and the local community, the next chapter of this great Club is ready to be written. The Club and Moonee Valley Park have created a vision for a Valley of Tomorrow that places innovation, sustainability, and the community at its heart.

The redevelopment over almost 40 hectares comprises an urban-designed residential, retail, commercial, and lifestyle precinct enveloped by green spaces. It will herald a new world-class renewal of the Club’s racing facilities, including a state-of-the-art grandstand with unrivalled city views.

It is a transformation for the ages delivering a new iconic Melbourne destination that will provide enjoyment for residents, racegoers, visitors, and the local community for many years to come.
